Workplace violence and harassment policies have been a requirement in the workplace, for over 10 years. In our current landscape, many workers are now experiencing an increase in verbal abuse, threats of violence, sexual harassment, and racism from customers and sometimes from other staff. This half-day workshop will provide an overview of related legislative requirements and help you to understand why it is more important than ever, that violence and harassment policies and programs are in place and effective.
This workshop will help you:
Understand how situational awareness can help create a safe environment for both workers and managers
Recognize situations that may put workers and managers in harm's way
Understand the concept of situational awareness and de-escalation techniques
Option Two: Workplace Mental Health - A Framework for Leaders

This program is aimed at providing participants with the knowledge, tools, and techniques needed to respond effectively to psychological health and safety issues in the workplace. Participants will be able to recognize workplace contributors that may reflect a psychosocial health and safety risk factor, familiarize with legislation, as well as organizational policies and resources related to psychological health and safety.
This workshop will help you:
Apply the concept of RACE to psychosocial hazards
Learn about qualitative and quantitative demands
Assist workers to navigate resources and stay at or return to work in a safe and sustainable fashion
Access tools in the toolbox, supporting workers with psychological or psychosocial concerns while at work, develop an understanding of the CSA Standard CSA-Z1003-13: Psychological Health and Safety in The Workplace and actions leaders can take
Normalize conversations and discussions relating to mental health
